On Wednesday we set off in the late morning (as is our routine) to catch the train to Givrine and take a nice winding hike, on the Bonne Fontaine Route, through woods and pasture to St Cergue. This plan worked out very well and the hike was mostly on well maintained unpaved roads that serve the many farms and tiny villages scattered over the area. This is a beautiful part of the world in which to hike. The forests are peaceful and cool and the hillsides in this area are mostly grazed by cows with their famous bells. Frankly I am amazed the constant bell ringing doesn’t drive the cows mad, but they seem oblivious so they must be able to tune it out. And as with all good hikes, this one ended with a reward drink, this time at a lake side cafe in Nyon!
