In October 2024, Laura broke her leg in a freak accident walking Bear, our family dog. Bear whirled around after being startled and hit Laura's knee with his head. The result was a compression fracture of the tibial plateau, meaning Laura could put no weight on that leg for 10 weeks while it healed. So our travel stopped for five months while Laura worked on healing and finding ways to exercise without putting weight on the leg. In short, we did a lot of swimming and pilates. I learned how to operate the chair lifts to get Laura in and out of the pool, and became a stronger swimmer myself.
Laura is now fully recovered and in training to do the Lake Geneva swim again this year. That will be in July.
